IMPORTANT changing accounts. halp plz.

By 2008, I want to switch accounts. Yeah, I know, I'm a pain in the ass. However, I've had this account since 2003, I'm watching over 1000 people, and I just feel as though I need a fresh start. I haven't switched accounts before, obviously, so if anyone who has successfully done so could please give me some tips, it would help a lot. I won't be posting much here, only every now and then. Before the end of the year, I want to go through my watch list and clean it out, watch people on my new account, etc. Right before I actually switch, I'll put this gallery in storage, so save what you want. When I make the switch, I think I'm going to be more specific about what I post. I want the new account to be kind of more like a portfolio, so I'll probably post what I see to be the best. There might be some reuploads, too. Again, though, this won't happen until early 2008, late december 2007 at the earliest. I just thought I'd let you know. ;3

Anyways...for those of you who have done this before, is there ANY simple way to go about it?

i don't think there's really any easy way to do it. just make an account and link to it here and on the new one, mention that you used to be here and viola.

I've had one account before this, and made another account that I'm moving to after this sub runs out in December.

But, I don't really know what to say about the 'easy way' part.

I just watched my closest friends and started watching the artists I really liked again.

Which SUCKS, because most of the people on my list don't ... upload.

Well, after switching accounts, I realized I could have done things better, and my advice is:
a) post an official "MOVING" journal, b)post a deviation that has text on the image that your moving AND put it in the description. Then put everything in storage except the submission with your move announced on it and just hope things work out from there

My account's pretty old, as well. 8| Only a couple of months younger than yours. HOWEVER, I've never moved to a new account before, seeing as the only other name I'd use is taken (I wanted Monkeycat, and when I first joined up it said it was taken, and yet the account that uses that name was created after mine, and that just makes me want to stab something).

Hmm.
I can guess the new name already. ClockworkGhost, right? :3

Well I've never moved but I know what gets annoying when someone moves...they should leave a sufficient amount of "HOLYCRAPI'VEMOVED" kind of stuff. Submission, icon, and journal should all be dedicated to moving stuff. Post -where- you are moving to.
And then after a couple months when you feel enough people have re-found you, there's a way, if you contact dA, to get the account closed, so that it's not just another dead account cluttering up the world.

And i'm glad for you. I feel that in a couple years...my online name will be either OctopusRave, or a combo of Darkmoon and OctopusRave. I dunno. but the name's grown on me. :3

Make the account and upload all of the old art you want uploaded before a fuckton of people start watching you. It was kind of embarrassing for me to have to go and re-upload a bunch of stuff people have already seen.

Just say that you've moved into your journal. And whenever a person adds you on your new account, you could add them back.
